Polybond Chlorinated Rubber Paint (CR) delivers heavy-duty protection with exceptional resistance to acids, alkalis, mineral oils, greases, seawater, and aggressive industrial chemicals. This fast-drying, flexible finish is perfect for interior and exterior applications across the UK, providing a tough, long-lasting barrier that outperforms standard paints and stands up to sunlight exposure.
Ideal as a general-purpose maintenance coating, Polybond CR is widely used on process plants, bridges, steel fabrications, silage pits, sewage farms, water works, hospitals, farm buildings, swimming pools, reservoirs, breweries, factories, power stations, gas installations, water-immersed structures, boats, marine establishments, fuel tanks, piers, road signs, iron gates, pylons, and large fish tanks.
Key Properties
- Chemical Resistance: Withstands a broad spectrum of industrial chemicals, acids and alkalis (avoid contact with solvents or animal fats).
- Heat Resistance: Suitable for dry surfaces up to 60°C; water-immersed up to 40°C.
- Storage Life: Indefinite when sealed; no skinning, minimal pigment settlement.
Ease of Application
Apply two full-bodied coats over a suitably primed surface for complete protection. It protects a wide range of substrates including metals, concrete, wood, brickwork, plaster, asbestos-cement, corrugated iron, render, and galvanised steel.
Easy to apply by brush, roller, conventional or airless spray (add 10% Polybond Thinner No. 1 for spraying or priming porous surfaces like render, plaster or brick). Touch dry in under 2 hours, recoat after minimum 6 hours (spray) or 24 hours (brush). Coverage approximately 9.5 m² per litre. Available in pack sizes of 2.5 litres & 5 litres.
Surface Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from oil, dust or loose material. Grit blast metal to remove rust/scale where possible; mechanically or manually prepare if blasting unavailable. Test existing paint for compatibility to prevent lifting. Use Polybond CR Zinc Phosphate Primer on metal, aluminium or galvanised surfaces (acid etch new bright galvanising first). Allow full drying and solvent evaporation before filling water-retaining structures.Note: Not suitable for small concrete fish ponds with low water volumes.
